Chocolate - NICARAGUA
Nicaragua is a land of contrasts – you’ll find volcanoes, rainforests , freshwater sharks, active volcanoes, three-toed sloths, ancient Mayan/Toltec heritage, and many friendly and warm people. It’s no wonder that cocoa beans grow in such a contrasting environment, resulting in such a richly flavored chocolate.
Our Nicaraguan beans are grown on farms that were established in 2013 with the support of the Danish government’s international sustainable agriculture program. The cocoa beans are harvested by 1,000 farmers, and the income they generate contributes to the well-being of 5,000 Nicaraguan people. Since 2013, these farmers have planted over a million cocoa trees and other trees, contributing to the reforestation of Nicaragua.
