Where It’s Grown

Mexican cocoa is cultivated in the historic Tabasco region, long known for its cocoa-growing traditions. This family-run farm has thrived for 80 years, covering over 70 hectares, with 50 hectares dedicated to cocoa trees, while the remaining land supports diverse plants and natural ecosystems. Alongside cocoa, the farm also grows coffee, oranges, fragrant peppers, and bananas, maintaining pastures that contribute to soil fertility. The farming philosophy is rooted in sustainability—ensuring not only the highest quality cocoa but also supporting the local community and preserving ecological balance.

Cocoa Variety

Trinitario – A hybrid variety resulting from the crossbreeding of Criollo and Forastero cocoa, combining Criollo’s fine quality with Forastero’s disease resistance.

How Much Cocoa to Use?

  • 10 - 15 g – A mild cocoa drink, suitable for daily consumption.
  • 25 - 35 g – A medium-strength cocoa drink.
  • 35 - 40 g – A strong cocoa drink, ideal for cocoa ceremonies.

1 tsp of crushed cocoa = 5 g

Single-Origin Cocoa Drink

How to Prepare Cocoa (per cup):

  • 10 - 30 g / 2 - 5 tsp of crushed cocoa
  • 3/4 cup of hot water
  • A splash of plant-based milk
  • Sweetener of choice (optional)

Blend all ingredients for 1 minute until smooth.
